Axel Tuanzebe put pen to paper on a new contract on Friday, which will extend his stay at Old Trafford to 2022.The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he made a huge impression under Dean Smith’s management. While many expected him to head straight back to Villa Park on loan, it now looks like the defender will get the chance to impress with Manchester United on their pre-season tour.Sky Sports man Dharmesh Sheth has advised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to take Tuanzebe into consideration, before potentially shelling out £90million on Harry Maguire.

“The Tuanzebe deal is quite an interesting one because he’s signed until 2022,” he told Sky Sports News Transfer Centre.“He will be in their pre season squad for United’s tour of Australian and the Far East, that’s where Solskjaer can have a proper look to decide whether’s head ready for the first team squad or whether he goes out on loan again.“Thinking long-term, if Tuanzebe becomes the player United believe they can be, they obviously rate him, they’ve given him this long term contract, imagine how much they could save in the market.“We’re already talking about £70m bids going in for the likes of Harry Maguire, thinking how much money they could save if Tuanzebe becomes the player they think he can.”

Premier League new boys Villa are reportedly keen on bringing him back if he is surplus to requirements at United.“No doubt Aston Villa will be watching this one with interest, they had him on loan at Villa Park last season in the Championship and they obviously got promoted to the Premier League,” Sheth added.“We’re told they would be keen on taking him back to Villa Park once more.”England Under 21 international Tuanzebe has been at United since the age of eight and has made five first team appearances.“I have grown up at Manchester United and it has always been a big part of my life and my family’s life,” he told the club's website.

"I appreciate the trust that the club has in me and I want to repay that with my performances on the pitch.“I know I have a lot of hard work and learning ahead of me but the experience I gained throughout last season puts me in good stead for the future ahead."I am determined to give everything and show everyone the player that I can be."I can’t wait for the tour to get started and to see what the upcoming season brings.”
