Why Man Utd were ‘lucky’ to beat Chelsea who ‘deserved to be in this game’ - Simon Jordan

Chelsea were brushed aside in the second half by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.Three goals in the space of 14 minutes killed off the Blues’ hopes of a positive start under Frank Lampard.United led 1-0 at half time but it could have been different had Tammy Abraham and Emerson Palmieri seen their shots hit the net rather than the woodwork for Chelsea.Jordan says Chelsea will be wondering how they managed to lose the Premier League curtain-raiser so heavily.

And he has warned United the scoreline was more down to the visitors’ mistakes rather than their own performance.“I look at Man United and United fans will say ‘well what do you want’ - [but] I think they’ve got very lucky today,” Jordan said on talkSPORT.“I think Chelsea deserved to be in this game.“[Chelsea have] somehow or another contrived to be the architects of their own downfall and then capitulated.

“That will, and should, slightly unnerve Frank Lampard.“It will be interesting what Frank does next, whether he’s going to pin them in the dressing room or leave it until they get back."That will be an interesting discussion.“I thought Chelsea dominated large proportions of this game and can look at it and say ‘how have we managed to come away from this losing 4-0?’.

“It will be very interesting to see what Frank Lampard takes from this game.“Everybody can take strength from things going your way.“He’s got some real adversity now, he’s just been handed his head in the first game.”
