Britain’s Got Talent 2019: Viewers spot ‘mistake’ in John Archer’s lottery trick
The Britain’s Got Talent hopeful performed a stunt which saw him have Ant and Dec pick out their own lottery numbers. The big reveal came as John produced a printed lottery ticket from his wallet which had the numbers printed on it, to the amazement of viewers. However, as the camera zoomed in on the ticket, some thought a mistake had been made. While one of the selected numbers had been 16, it appeared that only a 6 was on the ticket according to some ITV viewers.
Fans took to Twitter to point out what they thought was an error.“Er but he got the numbers wrong it was a 6 on his ticket not 16...#john #BGT more b******s #BritainsGotTalent,” one opined.Another questioned: “Erm shall we talk about how 16 wasn’t on the ticket? @BGT @antanddec #bgt #BritainsGotTalent #fix.”While a third said: “@BGT another c**k-up on #bgt with the magic acts. That ticket had 1 6 25 26 43 58 the numbers they chose where 1 16 25 26 43 58 dec noticed but went along with it.”“While I really enjoyed John Archer on #BGT, I noticed something wrong with his lottery ticket. The Euromillions draw doesn’t take place on Sundays, it should read 01 06, not 01 6, and the raffle stopped in November 2018. He is still getting my vote though #bgt2019 @TNLUK #magic,” a fourth shared.A fifth added: “Would have been more impressive if the numbers matches, it says 6 on the ticket and 16 on the screen.”
However, some of those watching at home thought it was just the lighting obscuring the number. One suggested: “I got a sense that something went wrong but you can kind of see a 1 in front of that 6 so it might be a trick of the light.”“It’s a 16, just the glare of the lighting,” a second wrote.Overall, viewers were clearly impressed with John’s act as he was placed in the top three. He was joined by Kojo Anim and Colin Thackery, with Colin winning the top spot and bagging a place in the final.
It was up to the judges to decide whether to put Kojo or John through, with Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell all plumping for Kojo.Sadly, that meant John would be going home and not returning for the finale.John appeared to take it all in his stride as he joked he already had plans for the day of the big final.“It’s alright, I had a golf match organised for Sunday anyway,” he jested.Britain’s Got Talent continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
